Times are a Changing...

When I decided to return to Washington, I knew there was only one area that I truly wanted to live in and that was the Southwest quadrant. If you know anything about DC, you know that the city is only 61 sq miles and is divided into 4 quadrants. Southwest is the smallest of the 4, and sits right on the Potomac River. If I walk out of my door and walk 7 or 8 blocks north or east, I would be in another quadrant. One block south I am at the Potomac.

It amazes me that I was gone a little less than 2 years, because the city has developed and gentrified beyond belief.
This was the National's New Stadium right after I left.

Less than 2 years later this is the National's Stadium at 11:25am yesterday. Almost ready for the new baseball season and the Papal visit next spring.

Do any of you remember partying in the early 2000s in that hole in the wall Jenny's? Well... And when the wrecking ball makes it way to the otherside of the mall and destroys this raggedy, shit hole of a Safeway I am going to be out their rejoicing. This Safeway is literally 2 blocks from me but never has shit on its shelves and never has pulp free OJ, which forces me to drive 10 minutes to another store.

Yeah...I have fond memories of my 10 years in DC! Oh Lawd...and Jennys! I pulled quite a few pieces and stunts there. Guess the everything-must-change theory is good. Glad you're enjoying DC.

I know what you mean about location, I remember during the short time I resided in DC, none of my friends or co-workers resided near my apartment (NE 4th) in fact most of them was on either side of the GWB. I miss the Go Go clubs and Trax. Hey man there is nothing worst a a supermarket that serves no purpose such as that Safeway, and the service is lacking much to be desired as well.

Everyone says that DC is easy to get around because of that "grid" system. But me... I get nothing but confused everytime I'm there. I don't get the grid. lol.

LMAO... I was just at that Safeway not too long ago. It is a mess! And I absolutely remember Jenny's. Wasn't it a Chinese buffet or something that transformed on Friday night for the kids?

I remember tripping over a young man's ankles that were sticking out from under a table. Seems he'd had a few too many drinks and passed out. I gagged because his friends were still seated at the table. You know that boy caught a Timberland or two upside his head, not too mention he could have died from alcohol poisoning. I remember asking if he was ok and they told me they were checking on him, but I didn't believe them. When I checked again he was sitting in the corner of the booth WITH ANOTHER DRINK!

SW is cool. I don't do much in SW. I see shows at Arena Stage and the extremely occasional visit to H20.

SE redevelopment forced out all the clubs. That made me sad. Wet was the place to be on any given Tuesday night.
